I am a bicultural and bilingual native San Diegan. I earned my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, CA (an American Psychological Association accredited program), and I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. I have practiced therapy in a variety of clinical settings from county funded mental health organizations, integrated behavioral health, outpatient community clinics, and crisis residential programs, to university counseling centers and private practice.
I have experience conducting psychological testing and providing therapy to individuals, couples, adolescents, and children struggling with a variety of concerns. My areas of specialty include working with adults on depression, anxiety, academic concerns, work and other life stressors, time management, grief, trauma, major life transitions, relational, identity, and acculturation issues. I have taught at San Diego State University, helping students on academic probation and using a resilience-based approach to help students learn time management, test taking, and study skills to improve their academic performance and self-esteem. I am an active member of the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, and the San Diego Psychological Association. I also have experience leading therapy groups and I am trained in biofeedback, which integrates mind and body to improve overall mental and physical well-being.
I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. I like working collaboratively with clients and other healthcare providers to help identify and cope/treat environmental, social, and health factors that may be interfering with the ability to live a fulfilling life. During my free time, I like spending time with friends and family, walking my golden retriever, taking hikes, practicing yoga, watching movies, visiting new restaurants, and traveling to learn about new cultures.
